Let’s get ready to rumble!!
There’s a major fight happening between the Facebook ads and ad blocking worlds that has us at the edge of our seat! (and has us decked out in our blue and white gear rooting for Facebook).
Last Tuesday Facebook announced that it had created technology that would show ads to people who use ad blockers on their desktops by disguising them. Forcing ads on people in a sneaky way was a huge move by Mark Zuckerberg and his team but we’re not sure if they expected retaliation from AdBlock Plus.
The ad blocking company found a way to re-enable the blocking of ads only for Facebook to fight back and enable it again, and so on and so forth.
According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau it is estimated that 26% of Internet users in the U.S. use ad blockers, that’s a whole lot of users that small business owners especially need to be in touch with.
We hope that Facebook will put the final nail in the coffin and come out victorious because we want our users to be able to reach as many people as possible. So many of the ad blocking users are probably posting what their wants and needs are on social media and don’t even consider how those “pesky” ads would benefit them!
