At needls, our team of data scientists are able to extract real time social media data looking for intent/needs within posts, which is how we constantly target and optimize ads for clients. This is one of the main things that sets us a part from the competition.
We thought it would be fun to task our data science team with looking for what people want most on Twitter, and we have to say some of the results are exactly what we expected…others not so much.

Okay, totally understandable, people want companions…but really? This is the top want?

2. VACATION, DAY OFF, BREAK, HOLIDAY
Yas! We feel this one, not a surprise. Who couldn’t go for a stroll along a sandy beach, or a visit to the Eiffel Tower, or an African safari, or a culinary trip across Italy, or a surfing trip in Australia or…you get the point.

3. DRINK, BEER, BOTTLE OF WINE/VODKA, SHOT
Yep, it makes sense. You want to drink to celebrate something, mourn something, de-stress. No doubt it’s usually on the top of a lot of lists. The bigger the glass the better!

4. GIRL, GIRLFRIEND, WOMAN, GF
We need to find a way to connect some of the people looking for a girlfriend with some of the people looking for a man! Clearly the dating sites and apps aren’t cutting it, this is proof that there are plenty of fish in the sea. Hang in there!

Our team looked at tweets containing the phrases “I need a…” or “I want to…” etc. and then sorted the blanks in each tweet and organized them into categories resulting in the data above.
